Where Creativity Abounds
The Wood Coatings Research Group, WCRG, maintains research and development facilities located in High Point, North Carolina, dedicated to the testing, research, development, and study of coatings and materials. WCRG is an independent materials science research and development laboratory, and is uniquely positioned and poised to provide unbiased testing and research services. WCRG has a high focus on the study and advancement of coating science and technology.
Wood Coatings Research Group’s Analytical Services Laboratory provides instrumental and wet chemical techniques for the quantitative determination of various quantities. Techniques include titrations, electrochemistry, chromatography, spectroscopy, rheology, microscopy, tribology, and thermal analysis, for example. These methodologies are utilized to quantitatively determine such quantities as coefficient of friction, acid number, solvent polarity, solvent identification, material identification, haze and clarity of films, absorption and reflection characteristics of pigments, viscosity, ash content, percent solids, water purity, VOC, and flexibility, for example.
