Keynote Speakers 2026

     Chip Frazier is the Thomas M. Brooks Professor of Sustainable Biomaterials at Virginia Tech and the Co-Director of the Wood-Based Composites Center, an industrial research consortium dedicated to industry service.

     Frazier's research focuses on adhesion, thermosetting resins, and lignin chemistry.
​

​Frazier teaches about the structure and properties of natural materials, adhesion, and wood-based composites.

     Dr. Victoria Scarborough is Vice President of Collaborative Innovation at The ChemQuest Group, where she helps identify and commercialize emerging technologies across the specialty chemicals and materials industries.

​      With more than 40 years of coatings industry experience, including leadership roles at The Sherwin-Williams Company, she has extensive expertise in innovation scouting, product development, and commercialization strategy. Dr. Scarborough holds multiple U.S. and international patents and is a frequent invited speaker and author on advanced coatings technologies, sustainability, and materials innovation. 

She serves on the American Coatings Association Science & Technology Committee and writes Innovation Insights for PCI Magazine.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in collaboration with The Wood Coatings and Substrates Conference Committee is pleased to issue a call for papers for the 12th biennial Wood Coatings & Substrates conference. The conference is planned as a Hybrid event with the on-site venue held on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), Greensboro, North Carolina, September 24 and 25, 2026.
